Peter lives on the shore of Lake Manitou with his wife Anna and furry friend Finnegan on Manitoulin Island. Peter retired to the Island about ten years ago following a 39 year career as a Geoscientist with the Ontario Geological Survey. He has since produced geological and geomorphological maps and reports for Ontario Parks, Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Geological Survey of Canada.
Peter combines his background as an award-winning landscape geoscientist with his love of photography to create visual images that convey moods and promote memories. From landscapes to landmarks, his photographs capture moments of Nature’s ever changing canvas; particularly of Manitoulin Island throughout all four seasons. Peter does minimal enhancements to his photographs. He prefers to capture nature as it was intended to be seen, felt and be enjoyed.
Although he has been taking photographs since a teenager, it was only after his retirement that he really had the time to concentrate on his surroundings, observe the beauty of nature and the fun of photography. Peter’s photographs have occurred on CD covers and in art exhibits at Queen’s Park in Toronto, the Island Jar in Little Current, the La Cloche Art Show (juried art), Northern Creative Studio Gallery in Gore Bay and currently at B Creative and the Northern Artists Gallery in Sudbury.
